AABE® Atlanta Chapter Announces 2014-15 Officers

FOR RELEASE: Wednesday, February 5, 2014

ATLANTA -- The Atlanta chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy® (AABE®) organization announced its 2014-15 officers and executive board. Each board member will serve a two-year term, culminating on December 31, 2015.

President: Rodney J. Russell

Rodney has been an active member of AABE since 1993 and was instrumental in organizing and chairing the chapter’s first scholarship golf tournament. He also helped create the Black Energy Awareness Month (BEAM) program, which is observed each October. He is a key account manager for residential customers at Georgia Power.

Vice President: Willie L. Palmer

Willie is a certified public accountant and previously served on the board as treasurer and chairperson of the AABE organization’s annual golf tournament. As region external affairs manager at Georgia Power, he is responsible for establishing strong, productive relationships with city, community, and civic leaders.

Treasurer: Cartrell Watts

Cartrell has been an AABE member for several years and most recently served as co-chair of the 10th annual scholarship golf tournament in 2013. Currently, he is a project manager at Georgia Power in corporate marketing and sales support for statewide end use sales.

Assistant Treasurer: Marleen D. Metcalf

Marleen has been an AABE member for two years and served on the scholarship committee in 2013. She is a senior fuel analyst at Georgia Power who represents the company’s fuel-related interests in areas such as fuel procurement and environmental affairs. She also serves as an advisor for the Future Engineers of America, a pre-college initiative sponsored by the National Society of Black Engineers.

Secretary: Jo Holliman

Jo is a sales and service supervisor at Georgia Power’s Customer Care Center, working to deliver and ensure dependable and exceptional customer service. She is a past vice president of the Savannah chapter and received the AABE Image Award for customer service in 2006. She previously served as the Atlanta chapter’s parliamentarian.

Assistant Secretary: Alisha Hargett

Alisha is senior regulatory analyst with SCANA Energy Marketing, Inc., where she is responsible for maintaining the administrative activities of the regulatory and legislative department and working

closely with the regulatory and legislative communities in Georgia. She holds professional certifications in time management and communications.

Parliamentarian: Trevor A. Quander

Trevor has been an AABE member for several years, most recently supporting the programs committee and the AGL liaison. He’s also the manager of the community relations and economic development at AGL Resources.
