AABE Energy Entrepreneur Award

AABE is seeking outstanding companies and entrepreneurs who embody the AABE spirit, and whose professional achievements serve as inspiration and guidance to others striving to make their mark in the field of energy.  The American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) is a national association dedicated to ensure the input of African-Americans and other minorities into the discussions and developments of energy policy regulations, R&D technologies and environmental issues.

 

Energy Entrepreneur of the Year

 

The Energy Entrepreneur of the Year award recognizes the men and women who have demonstrated entrepreneurial leadership, professionalism, dedication to improving one’s community and a commitment to opening doors for minorities in the energy industry.  This award acknowledges individuals who have broken new ground or developed a unique method of conducting business in the field of energy. Their accomplishments have had significant impact in the energy field and will pave the way for others to pursue business opportunities in that area.  Through his/her use of creative marketing techniques, the individuals have carved a special niche or strategically capitalized on general market opportunities to successfully forge ahead.

 

Supporting data must be documented in an essay submitted with a completed application.  The application and additional information can be found on the AABE website at www.aabe.org.  Entries must be received by January 30, 2009.

 

The Honoree will be announced during the AABE national conference at the annual James E. Stewart Awards Gala held in the spring of 2009.  The award winner will be profiled in local and regional media outlets as well as national trade and industry publications.

 
To be eligible for the award the nominee must meet the following criteria:

(1) The business is 51% African-American owned;

(2) The business has been in existence for a minimum of three (3) years and employs a minimum of three (3) individuals.

(3) Minimum annual revenue of $250,000 with a pattern of increasing revenues.

Anyone associated with a successful entrepreneur (professional advisor, customer, supplier, banker, lawyer, employee or spouse) may nominate an entrepreneur to enter the program. We also encourage entrepreneurs to self-nominate.
