Ed Baine, senior vice president-Distribution, Dominion Virginia Power, received a Black Engineer of the Year Award – the Anthony R. James Legacy Award – for STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and community service.  He is among scientists and engineers from around the country who were recognized on February 11, 2017, in Washington, D.C.

In addition to Baine’s service as a board member of the Dominion Credit Union, Chamber RVA, and the Capital Region Collaborative Organizing Council, he serves on the boards of directors of the Chesterfield Education Foundation, Venture Richmond and the Southeastern Electric Exchange.  He is also a board member of MEGA Mentors and executive sponsor of the Virginia Chapter of American Association of Blacks in Energy.  He also is involved with advisory committees at Virginia State University and the University of Richmond, and was in 2015 received the Bernard L. Savage Community Service Award from Chamber RVA.

"I am humbled and honored to receive this award,” Baine said. “I am truly blessed to have the support of my family and friends, and the encouragement of Dominion to stay involved in the community so I can pay it forward by helping others.”

Each year, the Black Engineer of the Year Award-STEM Conference brings together for three days professionals and students from a wide variety of STEM-related fields to share their experiences and information. The goal is to create connections between students, educators and STEM professionals while facilitating partnerships with individuals and their local STEM resources.

Mr. Edward "Ed" Baine has been selected to be on AABE  Board of Directors during the National General Body meeting held at the 2017 National Conference in Washington, D.C.
