The purpose of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE®) California Chapter is to participate in the formation of local, state, and national energy initiatives, energy initiatives, legislation, policies and programs, and industry trends that impact African-Americans and other minorities, and encourage networking and collaboration in energy-related occupations or occupations which contribute or partner with the energy industry.
We intend to accomplish this by:
Energy Policy Development
To serve as a resource for policy discussion of the economic, social and political impact of environmental and energy policies on African Americans and other minorities.
To ensure involvement of African Americans in governmental energy policymaking by recommending capable sensitive and informed personnel to appropriate officials.
To encourage both the public and private sectors to be responsive to the problems, goals and aspirations of African Americans and other minorities in energy-related fields.
Scholarship and Awards
To encourage African American and other minority students to pursue careers in energy-related fields and to provide scholarships and other financial aid for such students.
Career and Professional Development
To educate members on a wide range of energy management, policymaking and consumer issues.
To enhance professional skills and learn new ways to compete in the corporate environment.
Additionally, California Chapter will focus on the following issues:
Developing and providing value to our members as well as the companies that employ them.
Growing California Chapter’s membership in Los Angeles, Inland Empire, San Fernando, and Ventura areas.
We need your help. There is a significant need for the American Association of Blacks In Energy and we are excited about the potential of being all that we can be.
