California Chapter Mission

Our Purpose
The purpose of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE®) California Chapter is to participate in the formation of local, state, and national energy initiatives, energy initiatives, legislation, policies and programs, and industry trends that impact African-Americans and other minorities, and encourage networking and collaboration in energy-related occupations or occupations which contribute or partner with the energy industry.

We intend to accomplish this by:

Energy Policy Development

  • To serve as a resource for policy discussion of the economic, social and political impact of environmental and energy policies on African Americans and other minorities.
  • To ensure involvement of African Americans in governmental energy policymaking by recommending capable sensitive and informed personnel to appropriate officials.
  • To encourage both the public and private sectors to be responsive to the problems, goals and aspirations of African Americans and other minorities in energy-related fields.

Scholarship and Awards

  • To encourage African American and other minority students to pursue careers in energy-related fields and to provide scholarships and other financial aid for such students.

Career and Professional Development

  • To educate members on a wide range of energy management, policymaking and consumer issues.
  • To enhance professional skills and learn new ways to compete in the corporate environment.

Additionally, California Chapter will focus on the following issues:

  • Developing and providing value to our members as well as the companies that employ them.
  • Growing California Chapter’s membership in Los Angeles, Inland Empire, San Fernando, and Ventura areas.

We need your help. There is a significant need for the American Association of Blacks In Energy and we are excited about the potential of being all that we can be.
