Taking Our Unbroken Commitment Home (TOUCH)

The Importance of Service—Mentoring can change lives

At his inauguration, President Obama stressed the importance of community service and personal responsibility. As the administration enters its second week, it would do us well not to forget the meaning of these words and how we as professionals can impact the Atlanta community. That is why I urge all AABE® members to become involved in our two student chapters and our mentoring activities with high school students. Despite the milestone we witnessed, our youth still need accessible role models and mentors in their own community.

At AABE Atlanta, we fully support the President's vision for mentoring in our schools and communities. That's why we support mentoring in ways both large and small. Our members frequently visit local elementary, middle and high schools to discuss career pathways. We fully support the Georgia Tech Student Chapter of AABE by providing career mentors, funding and programming for the next generation of technical professionals.

In addition, we support local efforts such as Project Open Hand and Congressman Scott's annual Health and Career Fair.
