AABE to Host Discussion About Women in the Energy Industry

Panelists to address tough questions and the opportunity for diversity

ATLANTA – June 11, 2014 – The Atlanta chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy® (AABE®) will host a panel discussion, appropriately named High Heels & Hard Hats: A Discussion about the Energy Industry through the Eyes of Women, on Thursday, June 19, to examine the challenges of women in the energy industry.

Paula Jackson, president and CEO of AABE; Latanza Adjei, director, Georgia Power customer care center; Julie Friedberg, president of the Greater Atlanta Chapter of the Women's Energy Network; and Livia Whisenhunt, CEO of PS Energy Group, Inc. will sit down to discuss an array of topics that influence the male/female dynamics in the workplace.

“This panel really explores some hard truths of the energy industry,” said Rodney Russell, president of AABE Atlanta. “Each of the panelists has achieved a tremendous level of success in this business, and they have been able to successfully navigate a male-dominated industry. We can all learn something from their experiences.”

The event will start promptly at noon and be held at the Georgia Power auditorium located at 241 Ralph McGill Blvd., Atlanta GA, 30308. Lunch will be provided. Members of the media who plan to attend should RSVP by Tuesday, June 17, to atlantaaabe@gmail.com.
