Mr. Stewart went on to say, “Oil and gas industry representatives have made a substantial investment in not only the system to contain the unlikely event of a catastrophic well blowout, but also an investment in the Gulf. By actively working with the government to remedy concerns raised by last year’s spill, they seem to have effectively cleared the way to lifting the ten-month old permitting freeze. This will be a significant boost for Gulf states dependent on the energy industry to provide well-paying jobs.”
