On behalf of the Virginia Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE), I welcome you to our Chapter website. The Chapter was established in 2011 to serve as a resource for policy discussions in the energy industry, including utilities, trade associations, agencies, universities, consulting firms, and entrepreneurs.  AABE is an inclusive organization, welcoming and encouraging all to join!

2021 Goals

Membership

  • 85% or more membership renewal
  • Increase total membership to 150 members
  • Recruit 50 new members

Fundraising

  • Raise funds towards our Scholarship Program through our annual Charity Golf Tournament

Grants & Foundations

  • Raise $25,000 through corporate or business sponsorships

Scholarships

  • Award  up to 10 scholarships at $3,000 each to minority high school seniors planning to enter a Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) related-major in an accredited college and/or university.
  • Previous scholarship recipients in good standing will receive a $500 stipend at the beginning of their sophomore year.

Programming

  • Four (4) general body meetings
  • Four (4) community service activities
  • Four (4) professional development opportunities
  • Two (2) networking events (virtual and in-person)
  • Two (2) Black Energy Awareness Month (BEAM) events in October
  • Three (3) collaboration/partnerships with other ogranizations and/or employee resource groups
    • Community Outreach and Professional Development collaboration with Dominion Energy Employee Resource Groups (ERG's) and Nisource groups.
    • Community Outreach collaboration with local community groups, Partnership For the Future (PFF). and Higher Achievements.
    • Executive Roundtable collaboration with AABE DC, SC, and NC Chapters
    • Executive Roundtable collaboration with AABE VA's corporate sponsors.
  • One (1) Virtual interest meeting
