On behalf of the Virginia Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE), I welcome you to our Chapter website. The Chapter was established in 2011 to serve as a resource for policy discussions in the energy industry, including utilities, trade associations, agencies, universities, consulting firms, and entrepreneurs.

2018 Goals


  • 85% or more retainage of membership renewal
  • Increase total membership to 100 members
  • Recruit 30 new members


  • Raise $25,000 for scholarships for STEM majors
    • 2nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament, click here for upcoming details

Grants & Foundations

  • Raise $25,000 through corporate or business sponsorships 


  • Award up to $25,000 in scholarships to up to eight (8) high school seniors entering the STEM field.
    • Winners in good standing will receive a one-time $500 stipend at the beginning of their sophomore year.


  • Four (4) general body meetings:  two (2) internal and two (2) external
  • Four (4) community service activities
  • Four (4) professional development events
  • Two (2) networking events
  • Two (2) industry field trips
  • Two (2) collaboration/partnership with other organizations or resource groups
  • Two (2) Black Energy Awareness Month (BEAM) events
  • One (1) member interest meeting (Norfolk, VA)
