Dear SCCAABE Family:

Welcome!

Now that we’ve settled into the new year, allow me to welcome you to 2019! You know, these are truly exciting times! And they’re not just exciting for those of us embracing change at Dominion Energy, but also exciting for SCCAABE as a whole as this year marks 35 years of service to our industry, to our communities, and to current and future energy professionals alike. This year, we will pause to take stock in all we’ve accomplished as a Chapter, and celebrate our history that has laid the groundwork for our continued success.

Our vision this year is simply “3D” – we will be Deliberate in our actions, Dedicated to our mission, to Deliver on our promise to give voice to African Americans and other minority professionals serving in the energy sector. In honor of our 35th year, our objective is threefold:

1. To establish an endowment funded via a $35,000 capital campaign to increase the financial stability of SCCAABE and its scholarship program.

2. To increase our visibility and diversify our membership base, adding 35 new and/or newly active members.

3. To promote the value of AABE® by establishing the mantra of “3+5”: the 3 aims of SCCAABE (to educate our communities, to promote STEM careers, and to empower energy professionals); and the 5 benefits of membership (community Service, Professional development, Advocacy, Resource access, & Connections… S.P.A.R.C.) – what every good member should know.

OUR HIGHLIGHTS

  • 3 OUTSTANDING CHAPTER AWARDS 
  • SOUTHEAST REGIONAL CHAPTER HOST AWARD 
  • OUTSTANDING VOLUNTEER SERVICE AWARD NOMINEE by Richland County School District One 
  • PROVIDED nearly $120,000 in SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS to over 110 high school seniors pursuing energy careers

  • 2 CHAPTER MEMBERS served as members of AABE® NATIONAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS

So as we pause this year to celebrate, and begin to set our sights on the next 35 years, I hope we can continue to count on you. I look forward to working with you all!

Yours in Service,
