The Southeastern Missouri/Southern Illinois Chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE®) is one of nine chapters in the Midwest region of the organization. Headquartered in St. Louis, we are a relatively new chapter, chartered in March 2005. We currently have several members from various companies in our region. These companies include (but are not limited to): Ameren, David Mason & Associates, GSM Development, the Human Development Corporation of Metropolitan St. Louis, Peabody Energy, and Southwestern Electric Cooperative.
Our mission includes recruiting and increasing the presence and positions of African-Americans in energy related careers; increasing the awareness of and encouraging African-American students to pursue energy related careers; to serve as a resource on local and national energy issues; and to interact and network with other, local African-American groups to increase the synergies and viability of our area’s African-American professional population.
Like-minded professionals in all energy sectors (oil, gas, electricity, nuclear, renewables, government, technology, energy services and water) are welcome to join.
Educate and engage the African-American community on issues and opportunities in the energy sector to create informed consumers, develop industry talent, impact policy and advocate for the underserved.
