AABE Washington DC Chapter

The Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area Chapter (DC) of the American Association of Blacks in Energy (AABE) remains one of the most diverse, viable and goal oriented chapters within the national organization. The chapter consists of members and membership companies from the District of Columbia and the surrounding areas.

The DC Chapter is one of four chapters in the Mid-Atlantic Region of the organization. DC Chapter member Robert E. Bates Jr., retired executive from Mobil Oil, was chosen as AABE's National Chairman from 1982 to 1986. The Chapter has three members on the National Board of Directors and one as the Mid-Atlantic Regional Coordinator. The AABE DC Metropolitan Area Chapter was honored to host the 1st (1978 - Rosslyn, VA), 2nd (1979), 10th (1987), 18th (1995 - Richmond, VA) and 20th (1997) Annual AABE National Conferences in respectively. The chapter was also proud to co-host the 30th Annual National Conference in April 2007 in Washington, DC with support from the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Region Chapters.
