New Regional Coordinator Named at Board Meeting

The American Association of Blacks in Energy announced at its September Board meeting the appointment of Afarah Board to Regional Coordinator of the Western Region. Kirstin Watts who has served as Regional Coordinator since 2001, resigned from the position as she will be on special assignment for the Bonneville Power Authority in Washington, DC. “We have been very lucky to have Kirstin’s leadership over the years”, said Carolyn Green, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Under her leadership, we have seen the membership in that region grow. We wish her well on her special assignment and she will continue to be a cherished member of the AABE family.”

Afarah Board has been the Chapter President of the Southern California Chapter for the last eight (8) months. As president, she has grown the chapter’s membership by more than 300%. Ms. Board is a senior manager in Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Customer Service Business Unit, where she is currently on special assignment charged with managing the SAP Customer Relationship Management (CRM) project in the Enterprise Resource Planning organization. “We are delighted to have Afarah take on the role of Regional Coordinator. She is a tremendous asset to the organization, and I know that with her leadership our association will continue to be an extraordinary resource to our communities on energy issues”, said Frank Stewart, President and COO.
