Important Information Regarding Membership Dues

October 3, 2016

At the September Board of Directors meeting, the Board discussed and overwhelmingly approved an increase the association’s national membership dues. This is the first time dues have been increased in 20 years. When the Board made this decision, they considered the impact of inflation, higher operating costs and the internal service improvements required which all add to higher cost for the organization.

Starting in January 2017 the membership rate will increase to $225 annually. This will allow the association to provide the resources necessary to advance our mission, deliver key services to our members and improve our existing programming. We are sensitive to the impact this fee increase may have on some of our members. If members renew their membership before December 31, 2016 they will receive an early renewal rate of $175. In addition we are including membership fees in certain levels of sponsorship packages for the 2017 national conference.

This Board action was done with the best consideration and the decision is a critical step in the growth of the American Association of Blacks in Energy. The association is an industry leader and our work is highly sought after by policy makers, community leaders, industry leaders, regulators and other key stakeholders. Our accomplishments make our organization the most sought after resource to represent people of color regarding energy issues.

With our 40th anniversary in 2017, it is important that we continue to do the work that our mission requires as our industry continues to grow and change. We hope you are as excited about our future as we are and you will continue to support the our collective mission.
