AABE-VA Supporting "I'm Determined" Mini Summit

December 16, 2017

Members volunteered in support of Chesterfield County Public Schools’ first I’m Determine Mini Summit that was held at Clover Hill High School Saturday, December 2, 2017. Over 30 students with disabilities were ranging in age from 18-22 and their parents were in attendance. Students had the opportunity to enjoy learning activities in decision-making.

The I’m Determined project is a atate directed project funded by the Virginia Department of Education. The project focuses on providing direct instruction, models, and opportunities to practice skills associated with self-determined behavior, facilitating youth, particularly those with disabilities to undertake a measure of control in their lives, helping to set and steer the course rather than remaining the silent passenger.
